| You know what, I pretty much forgot I had this thing... sad isn't it? Since it's been like a year and a half since I updated, this may take a while. I'm going to leave out most of the little details and just concentrate on the big one... I'm now a mother of 2!!! My beautiful second daughter Karen Allison was born last October 16th at 2:08pm, weighing in at 7lbs 12oz and 19 1/2 inches long. She's now 6 months old and in to everything. She's just about to learn how to crawl, and takes great delight in trying to jump off of mommy's lap (as she did just now). She is as dark as her sister is fair; she has my hair and eyes and complexion. She also has a big personality, she's very social and friendly, and can't stand to be alone. I call her my little drama queen. :) Jordan is a great big sister. We had the usual jealousy for a couple of months, but now that Karen is smiling and laughing and playing I think she realizes that she's a little person and potential playmate. She loves making the baby laugh, and giving her toys, and hugs. That may all change as soon as Karen learns how to crawl, and starts getting into her stuff and taking her toys. As for the house, right now our project is to clean out the garage so that we can enclose the rest of the side we built the bedroom on and create another room and hallway. The new room is going to be Kris's office, and I can't wait to get it done. Currently he has stuff piled all over the house, and it will be so nice when he has his own space to put it all in. I told him I don't care what he does with the room, how he decorates it or what, I just want all his stuff in it. Baseball cards and memorabilia (sp?), comic books (boxes are currently taking up an entire wall in our bedroom), his work equipment, computer, and weight bench. I'm sure more will come update stuff will come to me, but since I'm pretty sure that you, Jami, are the only person who reads this, it really doesn't seem too pressing. :p Just in case anybody else sees this though, I'm going to attach some pictures of my little ones, the newest one taken just a couple of weeks ago. | | |
| Yikes, I didn't realize it had been so long since I updated this
thing.... First I want to say, Courtney, YOU ROCK!!! I absolutely loved
your paper you wrote, how did it go over with the rest of the class?
You have the greatest stories. And you're an amazing writer, keep it up.
Now, on to my updating...
Last night we finished flooring the hall and living room! We're so
excited. All we have left is the dining room, and that won't take long
once we get to it, probably this weekend when Kris is off from work. We
rearranged the furniture, and the place is looking great. I still have
a bunch of stuff I need to toss or take down to the garage, but that's
just details. It's crazy what a difference the flooring made.
And we finally figured out a furniture arrangement that actually works.
All in all it's been a very productive week. My goal is to get the
place (at least the living areas) in top condition by Thanksgiving.
It's going to be a hectic week and a half, but I think if I knuckle
down I could be able to pull it off. I think my main thing is the
baseboards... I HATE BASEBOARDS!!! Well, I don't hate them, I just hate
having to clean, cut, paint, and install them. And we have to get the
baseboards in before Kris will let me put everything back on that
monstrosity of a bookshelf, so we've got a couple dozen boxes sitting
in the living room right now. It looks tacky as hell, but I'm working
on it. All in all I'm really happy about the way things are coming
together.
Also, I've decided that the only way I'm going to be able
to start school January is through online courses. At least until Kris
can get another job, that's pretty much my only option. It's ok,
though, I'm going to the SAC (San Antonio College) website here in a
minute to do some more research about it. It could be cool. Besides,
the first couple of years are just the basics anyways, not a big deal
to miss out on the classroom experience for that. I'll keep you updated
on how that goes.
In other news, my mother in law still has said nothing more
about getting rid of Penny. Mostly I'm just finding it kind of funny,
since I know things are going to work out the way I want one way or the
other. You see, she's going to visit Bubba (her older son) for
Thanksgiving (doing happy dance), and she's obviously not taking the
dog. So, if the dog's not gone by the time she leaves, it will be by
the time she gets back. That sounds so mean, but sometimes you've got
to do what you've got to do. Now, for those of you who are reading this
and saying "what in the hell is she talking about???" let me fill you
in. My mother in law has this horrible little dachshund named Penny,
who attacked my 18 month old daughter last Sunday, and she has yet to
get rid of her, as we've told her she has to do. My daughter was
sitting on the floor petting the dog, and had been for about 5 minutes
- it was near nap time, and she was in cuddle-mode. There was no ear
pulling, or rambunctuous play, just gentle petting. Well, she leaned
over to give the dog a hug, and the dog went berserk, bit her 4 times
before I was able to get to them. She got her pretty bad on the nose,
took it hours to quit bleeding, once on the chin, and twice on the arm.
I have always disliked this dog, it is the most spoiled rotten,
anti-social animal I've ever known. My mother in law went so far as to
say that the dog had never acted toward anyone else that way before,
and that she wouldn't do it unless she felt threatened or was hurt.
Hinting that it must have been the baby's fault. We have 5 other dogs,
and the baby will give them hugs and kisses and use them as pillows
laying on the floor, and all they do is try and kiss her to death. We
told her that we're sorry it has to be this way, but if it was any of
the other dogs they'd have to go too. We just can't have that kind of
an unpredictably aggressive animal in a house with a baby, and any of
our future babies for that matter. So like I said, if she hasn't gotten
rid of her by Thanksgiving, I'm doing it for her.
So it was not a very good week for my little one. First the dog attack
on Sunday, then we had to go get her booster shots on Tuesday, then she
got a really bad fever and I took her to the doctor and found out she
has a double ear infection, and on top of that she's teething 2 teeth
right now. Poor thing. I hope she feels better soon.
So that's what's up in my life. I'll try and update more often.

| Woohoo, we're moved in!!!!! Well, the main furniture is in, we're
doing the rest tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know, now we're going
to shower, have milkshakes, and watch a movie. Catch you later!

| Well, I'm just now about to go
to bed, at nearly 4:30 am... I cannot function on 3.5 hours of sleep!
We ran into a roadblock when we ran out of flooring, so we have to go
get another case in the morning, which is okay because we need a little
more paint too, and the brand new piping/faucets we installed earlier
today are leaking now, so we put a bunch of sealant around them and are
crossing our fingers. We'll check on it in the morning. Other than
that, we completely finished the flooring in the bedroom, we just need
a few more pieces for the bathroom, and now because of those leaky
pipes, I need to re-paint a section of the wall also. At least Kris is
calling in to work tomorrow night. It's really actually not bad,
because he does have to go into the sheriff's office (they're
babysitting some hurricane evacuees (sp?)) and his boss at his
full-time job said that any time he needs off for something at the
Sheriff's office it was no problem... his boss doesn't have to know
that he's only going in for 4 hours... :)
Anywho, I'm exhausted, and as I
said, 3.5 hours of sleep is not nearly enough, but it's all I'm getting
tonight. I'll update tomorrow. *yawn*

| Alright, here's the end of Day 9 of Operation: Bedroom...
We got 2/3 of the flooring
done, which is actually pretty good. Once we got the first row or so
done, we fell into a pretty good rhythem for the rest of it. We floored
all the way up to the bathroom doorway, at which point we switched
gears to empty said bathroom so we could floor it also (we're just
extending the same flooring all the way in there). So we get the sink
out, pull up the baseboards, spend a little time sawing off a section
of piping we're going to have to buy a replacement for tomorrow, then
we get the toilet taken apart, get it moved, then we pulled up the old
vinyl and started scraping the little pieces that were stuck off of the
floor. So now after doing all of this we realize that we can't do the
flooring until we pain; plus we have to go to the hardware store
tomorrow and get the above mentioned section of piping, a new toilet
ring, and a whole new set of internals for the toilet. Eventually we're
going to finish the shower stall (it's all just bare drywall now, and
no fixtures, just piping) but we're not worrying about that yet. So
tomorrow's going to be devoted to doing the bathroom, and Kris is
debating calling in to work on Monday and then we'd be able to work the
whole day and possibly even get done Monday night - or maybe Tuesday,
we'll see how it goes. Either way, our estimated finish time has been
pushed back a couple of days by the bathroom, but it's all going to be
worth it in the end. We only plan on doing this once, and we're damn
sure going to do it right. No need to rush. We've been sharing a room
for almost 11 months now, a few extra days won't kill us. Well, that's
all I have to report for tonight, and it's after 2am and my "alarm
clock" wakes me up by 8am, so I'd better head to bed. I'll let you guys
know how things go tomorrow. Night!
